Description:
Students work closely with faculty advisors to handcraft individualized programs of study that are academically rigorous and highly flexible. Through 1-on-1 tutorials with Skidmore faculty, students pursue their graduate education while continuing commitments to career and family, from homes across the country and around the world. By combining coursework in different subjects, students explore areas ranging from environmental studies, to arts administration, to organizational development, to women's studies, to family counseling. Often, their programs of study take a unique approach to these areas, focusing on questions such as, for example, the nature of creativity, the role of women in religious art, or the sociological dimensions of mental illness. Students typically begin their studies with a one-week, introductory seminar on the Skidmore campus. Graduates enter Ph.D. programs and professional schools, further their current careers and start new ones.
